“I keep thinking there has to be an easier way to do this, but I cannot quite put my finger on what's getting in the way.”
I'm Kevin Hicks, a COO who works with multiple nonprofits.
I usually work on-site with each organization one or two days a week for six to nine months, with the time and scope agreed upon based on an organization's needs.
I work alongside you and your leadership team to help work get done and help your people execute effectively.
I mentor you, the executive director, through the changes.
"Kevin has a for-profit brain and a non-profit heart."

What shifted for the team
"He uses his vast experience to help organizations achieve meaningful outcomes. He challenged us to determine which measures truly matter for our stakeholders and organizational success. And taught us – so we now have the knowledge – specific strategies and big picture approaches to work more effectively as a team"

How I Help
Team Execution
As your COO, I sit down directly with your leadership team on the decisions we're facing.
We clarify roles, assign concrete accountability, and make sure strategic decisions actually get carried through to completion.
Executive Support
While the organization evolves, I mentor you through the tough leadership choices you are carrying as executive director.
Part of my role is helping you decide what needs attention now and what can wait, including how to help your board understand the progress being made.
Sustainable Operations
Your people learn operational execution by doing the work.
We give each change time to be used and we learn from what happens, leaving the team self-sufficient long after the engagement ends.
You may be seeing good people leave, or a strategic plan may be producing less progress than you expected. I begin by asking questions about what is happening and where the work slows down.
